Saito and Brewers agree to 1 year deal
The Milwaukee Brewers and Takashi Saito agreed to a 1 year deal. Since coming to MLB in 2006, Saito has a 2.19 ERA, 1.022 WHIP, and 84 saves in 299.1 innings.
According to Adam McCalvy of mlb.com, the deal has a base salary of $2 million, but incentives could push it up to $3.2 million.
Saito is a veteran pitcher who has experience as a closer. Saito is a perfect fit for the Brewers who need more bullpen depth. Saito joins Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum as the Brewer's major acquisitions.
Fantasy Forecast: It's never too early to start thinking fantasy baseball! If you're like me and don't draft closers until the late rounds, then Saito could be a nice player to target in the last few rounds. He has experience as a closer from his three years with the Dodgers, and with Trevor Hoffman not returning and John Axford's inexperience (1 year as a closer), it would not be surprising if Saito was the Brewer's closer.
