Don't Panic When your Fantasy Stars Underperform Early

Albert Pujols went 0-5 against the Padres. He's done. He's finished. He is washed up and overrated. I need to trade him. No. No. No. NO. Please, no.

It happens way too frequently where naive and even experienced fantasy baseball players will overreact to players under and over preforming. Therefore, I am throwing a nice reminder to you that you cannot do this. If you panic this early in the season, you will probably regret it later in the season.

Albert Pujols is certainly going to be fine this season, so don't worry fantasy owners. But when should you start worrying? I usually wait until the middle of May. I am confident that I can make the playoffs in a H2H league even if I carry an underperformer. This only applies to stars and mid-round draft picks. If a sleeper hasn't worked out after a couple weeks or one of your later starting pitchers has multiple bad starts, it is probably worthwhile cutting him,

Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees, had a good opening game, hitting a three run home run. However, he is notorious for his infamous slow starts. If Teixeira goes into a slump for the rest of April, please don't panic. If you trade him, you will have to trade him for under his market value. In addition, you will be kicking yourself when he heats up in the remaining months.

Most of you knew this, but I thought it was necessary in order to save you from bad trades and dropping decisions. Patience and quickness are both necessary in fantasy baseball, but in April, patience is most important.
